JuxtConsult has released many reports before as well and this time they came out withe a ‘Website User Friendliness and Usage Satisfaction’ Study. The survey was conducted by JuxtConsult through an online poll on the basis of 19 criteria.
The websites were evealuated on the following accessibility, likeability, relatability, navigability, interactivity and task accomplishment’. The sample size of the survey was 8000 online respondents.

Based on the above criteria’s rediff was given points based on the website user friendliness index. Rediff scored 7.04 followed by Yahoo (6.88), Indiatimes (6.54), Sify (6.38), AOL (6.21) and MSN (5.37).
On the travel portals end Cleartrip scored the highest among travel portals like MakeMyTrip.com, Yatra.com, Travelguru.com and Indiatimes Travel.

Cleartrip was recently featured on WATShow as well and we had covered their recent funding news as well on WATBlog.
There are very few research agencies like juxtconsult which seem to be doing an indepth study on the online space. Even in this case I haven’t really read the report so can’t say its indepth. But I genuinely feel the space needs more players in research than it currently has and come out with unbiased and cutting edge surveys. Maybe WAT should start a research arm.. WATResearch? Wat say?

wat an idea, sirji
Thanks for this article based on our study… it is a great support to us in spreading awareness about our studies.
Just a small clarifications:
It is not a ‘poll’, it is basis a really unique methodology. ‘Poll’ word is somehow sounds frivolous because of the nature of polls you see, and Juxt never do anything frivolous. We are into developing “unique, comprehensive & proprietary online survey methodologies”.
Uniqueness of the methodology of this survey is also the way it is executed: half the respondents (of both existing and potential users of the website) were asked to surf the ‘homepage’ of a website (for at least 3 minutes) & another half did the same on its competing websites and then equal numbers were asked to ‘complete a simple assigned task’ (check footnote) on the website & its competing website (for at least 5 minutes). The ‘home page’ or ‘the website for completing task’ was opened in the eye-frame of our questionnaire. The “cumulative weighted score” was calculated basis ratings on 19 parameters by ‘actual users’ & ‘potential users’ of these websites only post ‘usage of the home page’ or ‘completion of the task’.
Footnote:
The tasks that the respondents of the “Job Portal category” in a syndicated survey model were asked to perform were – 1) search for a job posting of their interest on the website, 2) upload their resume on to the website, and 3) check for career tips in their area of interest on the website.
‘Take a survey and Win Rs 10,000′ is the most frivolous method of basing a study.
Most of the Indian junta would have taken it just for the cash and not out of genuine interest.
WATResearch is something which should have started a long time back.
Thanks Eka.. Wish you had stayed back a little longer Im sure WATResearch would have started for sure. But I guess its not easy to find a replacement to Eka though at that time it was difficult to pay you what you deserved and our company was just too small then to retain you (given your super progressive attitude).. I guess the loss has been ours.. So Im still searching for the right person who can lead WATResearch. But rest assured its on our radar. I guess given the brand value that we have we need to make sure we dont jump into things without proper planning. Thats whats holding us back. But pray to god we do find someone half as good as you and for sure you will see us take a crack at WATResearch. With respect to your comment on JuxtConsult methodology I guess its a valid point but lets say the one who gets it done wins and right now there isn’t any competition to juxt so what they do is the best till ofcourse someone can do better.
