Google has launched a plugin which enables Google search on the Windows Mobile Phone. A few weeks ago they had launched a similar plug-in for Symbian devices.

The plugin effectively puts a Google search shortcut onto the phone’s home screen. This shortcut basically enables you to search the web right from your phone screen thereby reducing the time to open a phone browser logging into google etc.

Google has made this plug-in available for BlackBerry devices as well since last December. Today, we’re making this available for Windows Mobile devices too.

So a Windows Mobile user needs to point his mobile browser to http://mobile.google.com inorder to download the plug-in and start searching.

It seems like Google is staying true to its mission of organizing the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful even though it may be becoming bigger each day. With different mobile platforms building such plugins which are compatible with all platforms is essential for distribution of any mobile app and google is doing exactly that.
