Ever since Reliance ADAG group has started thinking “BIG, Entertainment has been on the forefront of the strategy so be it movie rentals, downloads or streaming or radio or even DTH Reliance is trying to own everything that even spells e of entertainment. Also its not only movies its gaming as well where they have pumped in more money than i can count in zapak (i wonder why they didn’t name this biggames! ;))
So after launching its rentals and offering 14000 movies at 1$ or so Bigflicks has now turned its attention to the power of regional content. With most web players be it sms, web portals or others looking at going regional its only natural that a entertainment video streaming/download service like bigflicks jumps on to that bandwagon as well.
So BigFlicks.com has joined hands with Raj TV Network and will showcase its content on its video on demand (VOD) division, www.broadband.bigflicks.com. Even before Raj TV BigFlicks has previously tied up with other leading channels like NDTV, Zoom, STAR TV and 7 Star Care where in there is no fee but the model is based on advertising.
Kamal Gianchandani, chief operating officer, BigFlicks, told agencyfaqs “There is a huge untapped demand for Tamil and Telugu language content outside India. The Raj TV Network has a lot of Tamil content – they have a catalogue of films, TV shows and music.”
On the whole it does seem like a strategy to target NRI’s with downloads and streaming content while the dvd rentals is for the Indian user. Though with dvd rentals im a little sceptical given the piracy and the rate of change in data storage and transfer technology. I think both of those hamper the dvd rentals market in India.

It’s a very good news..anyway thnks.
It’s true that the piracy and storage are two factors. But they have a headstart at least.
