Jivox is a newly launched do it yourself online video advertising solutions company that recently raised 2.7 million dollars in the US from Opus Capital. As per international reviews Jivox offers “tools to create online video ads, including templates and a library of still images, video clips and music and then target customers through a network of web publishers”.

Though it is newly launched in the US as well it had already decided to setup shop in India. Jivox has started a sales and development office in bangalore under the name Jivox Software India Pvt Ltd which will be headed by Mr Naren Nachiappan, Managing Director, India.

In India there are very few startups focussing entirely on the video advertising space. Except for Nautanki.tv which creates its own content (though there are quality issues on the content front) and then allows placing of ads in them there is no other startup that I know of which seems to be empowering the users to create their own video ads. Google does offer video ads and Interactive avenues as an agency were the first ones to explore that last year.  Later research agencies also published a report stating that brand recall through video ads was higher than Tv ads.

I do see tremendous potential for a player like Jivox in India and im no surprised that they’ve taken the funding and immediately opened shop in India instead of competing in the already crowded US markets.
