BigFlicks Offers 14000 Movie Titles @ 1$ Per Download.. Also Launches Rentals

BigFlicks was announced last year as a part of Reliance Entertainments BIG strategy where it was getting into all forms entertainment be it radio, social networking and movie downloads and soon to be rentals. So on one end BigFlicks seems to be competing with Rajshri media on the NRI segment which caters to movie downloads and streaming and on the other end its giving competition to seventymm with its recently launched dvd rental service.
BigFlicks is now getting aggressive as far as the movie downloads service is concerned. BigFlicks has launched an offer of 1$ per download for around 14000 titles and the same shall be available for download between 8 March till 15 March in seven different languages which are Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Gujarati and Bengali.
On the whole the movie download service seems to be far more lucrative than the dvd rentals space given the rampant piracy and the costs of logistics and stores. Im sure no player in this space can survive only on the basis of dvd rentals focussed on India. The player would have to look at downloads and streaming to build revenues based on the NRI audience looking to pay for exclusive Indian content.
