Microsoft India Development Centre at Hyderabad

Microsoft has launched the latest versions of Windows Server, SQL Server and Visual Studio. Named Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008, the products will now be available in India. The Microsoft India Development Centre at Hyderabad is has contributed significantly to the development of these products. MIDC, Hyderabad is Microsoft’s second largest development centre after Redmond, United States.

S Somasegar, senior vice president, Microsoft Corporation said

“Organisations presently spend over 70 per cent of their budgets and resources on maintaining the existing infrastructure. This is clearly less than optimal and a huge drain on resources. The focus of the launch is to allow business to provide them with powerful tools to focus on acquiring and leveraging new capabilities, rather than straining to maintain the existing infrastructure,”

Microsoft, under pressure from its falling margins from its flagship Windows system sales, is working overtime to improve its other offerings. With the increased trend of organizations taking to the SaaS model, there is an increasing threat to products like this. Customer now prefers to pay for the service that he gets rather than pay upfront for the ownership of the complete software. Last heard, even Microsoft was working on offering the online versions of its popular products.
