EXCLUSIVE- More Competition In Digital Advertising? LBi – The International Full Service Interactive Agency To Launch Soon in India
The online/interactive advertising space went through a sort of a consolidation phase recently with bigger traditional advertising players acquiring digital only agencies or digital agencies raising the funding required for them to scale up. We also saw interest from large media houses like percept and publicis which are going the acquisition way to expand in the digital advertising space.

Now it seems another global digital agency LBi is soon to open an India centric arm. For all those who dont know LBi is an international full service digital marketing agency. LBi employs over 1,450 professionals located primarily in the major European and American business centers, such as Amsterdam, Atlanta, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, London, Madrid, Milan, Munich, New York, Paris and Stockholm. LBi reports annual sales of about € 160 million and had in September 2007 a combined market capitalization of € 294 million.
By the looks of it LBi has launched an Indian outfit sometime late last year (atleast thats when they booked the india domain) in Mumbai. We have no news of any Indian clients that LBi India might have acquired or even if its targetting the indian market but they have worked on an international client through the mumbai office (so it could be a case of offshore office as well for now). With the Indian digital advertising market booming I wouldn’t be surprised if they do decide to target the Indian market in a big way. For now the India website of LBi states that the Indian operations are expected to launch soon which means it could launch its services in India soon. We at WATBlog are trying to get some bytes from the LBi India division and get some inside dope on what are their plans!
