1st things 1st – 3 New IIT’s are being proposed (in Bihar, Rajasthan, and Andhra) and so are 16 central universities. A boost for India’s IT Human Capital Development. 300 new ITI’s have been proposed as well.

The Finance Minister also put forth the institution of national knowledge centers and has allocated Rs. 100 crore for the Information Technology sector and encouraged students to opt for studies in the field of science.

Apart from that the FM has decided to funnel more funds through to the Department of Information Technology. He has also mentioned the scheme for establishing 1 lakh broadband enabled common services centres (CSCs) in India and setting up state wide area networks (SWANs), which we’ve covered before. The scheme is in progress, and a new scheme for establishing State Data Centres has been announced. Rs. 450 crores will be allocated to for SWANs, and Rs. 275 crores will be allocated to State Data Centres as reported by CS .

This is interesting keeping in  mind the things that are potential for Indian Social Networking if Broadband Explodes across the country.

Excise Duty on Wireless Cards has also been removed as reported by Tech2

There is also talk of an additional service tax for Customized Software Makers (this has been just recently proposed at 2: 30 p. m.)

If there’s anything we may have missed do add to it!
