So Im hoping you read our earlier post on Politics 2.0 thats happening between Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama in the US Presidential elections. If you haven’t then please do read it here as it will give you an understanding of how important twitter is as a communication tool in the US even for the politicians.

Now it seems twitter wants the same scene to happen in India. Twitter has launched a short code service for India where in a user can send a message to a short code i.e. 5566511 and the message will be sent to all his friends on twitter. This is a great service for twitter users in India who can send a group message globally to all their friends at the cost of a local message.

There have been other Indian players like smsgupshup.com and mytoday which have been offering similar services to Indian users. But twitter surely does have a larger international audience and such a service will be very useful in staying in touch with say my friend in california or for some parents in india who want to stay in touch with their son in US. Besides for that this may also increase the number of Indian users on twitter as currently there are not more than a couple of thousand india based people on twitter.(based on simple search done for India).
