Trying Lingerie Goes Virtual: KnickerPicker.com

KnickerPicker

Recently we had blogged about ShopImagine.in – A visually appealing lingerie portal! And also it is a very good market to exploit. I have noticed many lingerie portals being launched recently. I wonder what new do they have to offer to the consumer.

I came across this site called KnickerPicker.com

KnickerPicker is an online lingerie store which provides wide variety of products and brands. Besides that it offers an interesting and amusing feature called “dressing room” which features 3 different women in lingerie (real women). Besides that by clicking on additional options you can choose the women you would love to see in lingerie. That’s not all, you can also “make her turn around and come closer” all depending upon your mood. I know guys what you all are thinking out there (lol). Well you people have got a very good reason to take a sneak peek, “Valentines Day.”

I am sure that the shop will gain a lot of attention especially from the male audience. For ignorant and shy males it has some useful and humorous tips to offer.

Ok enough of kidding. Now I am going to be honest why I think that online virtual lingerie stores are going to be the next big thing.

Way back, lingerie was purchased mainly by females from busy physical stores. Many of women especially in India used to feel awkward to purchase them as most of the sales staff consisted of men. Also Indian society being orthodox in nature many Indian women used to shy away from the fancy lingerie. But now the scenario is changing. Women are opening up, they fancy wearing different types of lingerie. Besides that now men too have started buying them for their partners. But still many men shy away from physically purchasing them from a store. Stores like KnickerPicker can aid them in shopping. Besides that I find the concept of online virtual lingerie store appealing because it makes your shopping experience very simple and easy.

You just need to select a model which represents you (i mean in body). Shopimagine.in - A Visually Appealing Lingerie Portal! And try any size of product and brand that you wish to. With features like turn around and walk you can get an idea how good it might look on you. Though there is still time till it takes off in real sense. But the future is certainly online virtual lingerie stores as people might get busier with their work. It will be interesting to watch if ShopImagine.in and others such Indian stores come up with similar virtual reality ideas.

Is there something like this available for the adventurous men too. or atleast some websites where we can get some good branded underwears.

Talking about buying underwears in India, its not an easy task for the men too. If you have to buy one, you have to just go to some close by store and pick the first that comes to your hand. Try talking to the shop guy it is equally embarassing talking to him about colors and designs. Neither is he interested in what underwear you buy.

Want to go beyond the VIPs and Jockeys, you have to go to some import shops at some far off area and then the same problem with customer service. So a market of this types does exist for the men too.

Would appreciate if i could get some good websites where i could get my stuff.

    Rushabh,

I thought women would want the touch and feel of the lingerie, before buying it? Ever been to Straps or any other showroom and seen women’s buying behaviour for a lingerie lately? You can’t take away the shopping pleasure away from women…And BTW did you notice this punchline anywhere…
“every woman is unique and special and come in different sizes :) ”? So trying out on models might not work…

Women who would want to spend on expensive lingerie, want to touch and feel the fabric and mostly try out the size before buying it. The men who gift it, would want, atleast the touch/feel, I guess. With showrooms like Straps and others in shopping malls these days, the staff is helpful and they definitely help u make a buying decision.

Not sure how big is the target market out there for this!

Though men would still buy underwear online as Jockey has standard products. Men r men, So if I am a user of Jockey and I can buy online at a cheaper price, I would prefer that! Hope jockey is listening…

hey sachin i agree with you right now. but the the future is uncertain. initially when online lingerie portals were launched every one thought it will not be successful and the entire concept will fail. but today online portals are earning as good as the offline stores. my post highlights one of the future possibility.

I’m not sure how the virtual lingerie store will work.Touch, Feel and Comfort – the 3 main criteria to buying lingerie. And allmost women follow it. If they had an exchange/return option (seems tough though) would work..

Sachin seems bang on target, if I saw a piece of a particular brand at a lesser price online, I would definitely pick it up, but only after it confirms to the same T,F,C criteria.

hey jyoti what u said is true. even the lingerie portals are aware about the fact. there are many online lingerie portals which provides the buyers with an exchange/return option. besides that in the beginning it might not work out with all female/male audiences in india as it is a new concept for us. in western countries like usa, uk, germany, etc people are buying lingerie online on a large scale. that is the reason why many lingerie portals are coming up these days. initially in india the concept will surely work with the shy male audiences and the rich class people.
