Facebook’s Democracy
Email It!
Over the last few days, im sure many Facebook users would have noticed the ‘ignore all’ button when it came to the requests page.Â
When Facebook opened up its platform to API developers, the result was that there were a few thousand applications developed. Some were useful, even successful. Some were downright dumb. Users however (at least some of them) - kept adding applications and forwarding requests for these applications to their friends. The result was a super crowded requests page. Â
Once a user of Facebook receives more than a certain number of requests (28 i think), he can automatically ignore all requests and clear up his requests page.  Â
This feature is handy for very obvious reasons, it is sort of tedious to manually ignore all requests. More often than not requests come in faster than they can be deleted - those who are loyal users of Facebook will know better.  There is also an interesting story as to how this feature came about. Apparently there were a few groups invented within Facebook by users themselves and they were trying to garner numbers to get the ‘ignore all requests button’ active. And they succeeded.Â
Such user behavior is great for Facebook because it shows that it is growing inside out - its customers are its market researchers. Since customers care so much about the betterment of the network, it shows their attachment to the network and only says good things about brand Facebook. It’s almost like a Facebook Democracy!  To read more about Facebook & Social Ads, click hereTo explore nuances about Facebooks API Platform & The Social Graph, click hereTo find out more about how to make money on Facebook - click hereTo read about how Facebook limits interactivity through Groups, let us guide you thereÂ
