Hotel Booking Adds Another Player: Lomanika.com

Indian online travel industry is expanding companies are stepping into this market with a thought of discovering the whole of India. Few days back we blogged about affiliate sites and Sampurn stepping into online travel industry. Recently, Lomanika.com introduced online booking for the remotest hotels in India on www.lomanika.com .

On this, Atul Khekade, Director of Business Development at Lomanika said, “There are so many places in the country which are left untouched, unexplored mainly because of the accommodation and the booking problems. Different websites in India provide the option for online booking but the number of hotels on these sites is restricted to 150-200. We wish to break this barricade and make travel simpler and more accessible to the common man”.

It is observed that people avoid travelling to places where accommodation is a problem. This website enables the user to book hotels in any part of the country depending on their choice of hotels. It gives the user a wide variety of hotels ranging from heritage hotels to five-star hotels. Not to long but Travelguru changed its focus from travel portal to booking hotels. Travelguru enables the user to view the room prices depending on the dates they planning to book. Travelguru has been in this business for a long time. It will be difficult for Lomanika to attract users on the basis of their claim of reaching remotest hotels of India.

  1. Tourist can easily travel without being hassled by agents and middlemen since the popularity of online portals have increased.

  2. I wonder how one verifies the claim that they have the largest database?
This space is getting rather crowded.. we’ll see who survives and who falls

  3. Launching another hotel booking website is fine … nothing great and new … Was just wondering what Lomanika means????

  4. Do any of the posters actually respond with their views or do they just post and disappear?

  5. Hey Vijay,

We usually repond as soon as we can and if we have something more to add to whats being said in the comments. In this particular case Disha has been out of office so she couldnt respond and I shall apologize on her behalf.

Regarding your question: We cant really say who has the biggest database as there is no neutral agency auditing this stuff but rest assured lomanika would not be the biggest or they would be well known.

@Shahzad – These is no wikipedia entry so i think it doesnt mean much!

  6. Mr. Rajiv,

I can make out that there is no wikipedia… but I am sure there must have been some thought process before you finalised the brand name, some relevance to services that you are offering or some meaning to it?

  7. @ Shahzad
We reviewed the site but didn’t find any meaning of the word “lomanika”. If you are keen to know the meaning you can always contact them at http://lomanika.com/contact.htm

  8. i’m little confused.. on how one defines “onine booking” facility for Hotels. On lomanika site on dont find availability of Rooms Nor Its prices. And an booking ends as a enquiry posted as email to the site owner i guess. My understanding what that online booking stands for facility to Check rates a availbility of Rooms Online and make Payment and get Instant confirmation of the Rooms bloked like in case of Air tickets.

Disha – reading your other articles I felt you are more aware of the Online industry, but your review on this site does not justify. This is a very static site, that too fully done in html pages.

looking forward for some good reviews from disha on the industry.

    cheers,
    Neel

Just to recheck I tried sending them a mail but unfortunately the site didn’t submit the data due to some technical problem on their side.

And as I did say earlier it will be tough for Lomanika to stand in this business as Travelguru is already offering all that you have asked for – the room fares, availability and booking.
