The IIT-Bombay campus on Sunday was a hub of activities as hundreds of delegates descended to attend the E-Summit, organized by IIT-Powai. Organized by the E-Cell, was an event to discuss the different aspects of the emerging entrepreneurial ecosystem in India.
The introductory speech the head of IIT focused on how the new age entrepreneurs and institutions like IITs can come forward to create and ecosystem for the upcoming ventures. He was strongly against the idea of taking the government money for venture funding.
With the keynote speech by Mr. S Ramadorai, CEO, TCS, the event saw a huge number of entrepreneurs and wannabe-entrepreneurs turn up. Mr. Ramadorai had a few interesting points. He discussed how it’s a myth that entrepreneurship is limited to people starting companies. Anyone who comes up with an interesting and innovative idea to add some value, is an entrepreneur. “Failure” should be seen as a natural part of the process called Entrepreneurship. Failure should not scare you off the entrepreneurial path.
The injection of the very traits of entrepreneurship from the early school age was one thing that everything focused on. Mr. Ramadorai said that the school curriculum should be such that it encourages entrepreneurial attitude. He reinforced the idea that “attitude” is extremely important.
