Blogging Away.. CartoonNetwork With Kids & Ravi Shastri With Ibibo!
Blogs and Blogging are going mainstream and this can be said from the fact that niche blogging be it age based or topic based is being invested in by traditional and online media companies. Recently we mentioned on how regional women bloggers are in vogue and also how microsoft is trying to lure bloggers to sell its software. Now there are two more updates that are around blogs being used to attract the audience.
Cartoon Network Goes 2.0
Cartoon Network has made an attempt at going 2.0 with its india centic website by revamping the same and adding features such as video-on-demand, user-generated content, blogs, message boards and gaming functions.
Vivek Krishnani, Executive Director, Marketing, Turner Entertainment Asia Pacific, had this to say on the revamp “Kids are early adopters of new technology and at Turner we have realised the importance of fulfilling their digital needs. The enhancements on Cartoonnetworkindia.com were inspired by our target group’s evolving media snacking habits and the increasing number of broadband users and Internet penetration in India. As a responsive company, we have to offer our viewers a superior brand experience on Cartoonnetworkindia.com to continually engage them.”
CartoonNetwork in India going for blogging is an indication that they believe indian kids are online enough and ofcourse savvy enough to use these kind of applications. Its difficult to say how many kids would actually engage in blogging but nonetheless besides for their execution and what cartoon network derives from this new improved site I think the major beneficiary would be the Indian internet space which desperately needs to have evolved users and future staff (5-7 years down the line) and entrepreneurs (entrepreneurship has no age!) as well. And I guess cartoon network with this site of theirs is doing that job!
Shastri to blog on cricket at Ibibo
We had written about how ibibo is going about its marketing in a smart way through tie ups with movies and a not so smart way when it comes to some other tieups like the one with zee. One can also know Ibibo CEO’s thoughts on WATShow. I guess companies like ibibo and zapak do anything and everything under the sun to attract Traffic (Im not sure how much engagement! But traffic for sure). So ibibo is happily spending millions on their balti ads and now they have gone ahead and roped in Ravi Shastri to blog on their platform about what else? but cricket!
The cricket fever is on with the ODI Triangular series between India, Australia and Sri Lanka and as a commentator Shastri will blog about each match on Ibibo. On this occasion Shastri said “I am very excited to be a part of this initiative by ibibo.com. This initiative will help me connect with young cricket fans across India. I have created my very own personalised space on ibibo.com and I am using ‘blogs’ and ’sawaal’ as the key tools for interaction,”
One can visit shastri’s blog out here. We have written about celebrities blogging before and I am a firm believer that all celebs can build a strong personal connect with its ardent fans and supporters through blogs.
