Movies is big business and thats pretty evident from the way indian films are recovering their investments in the first week itself. So the demand for tickets and convenience based tickets for movies and other entertainment events like concerts and theatre shows is rising. Given this environment Bookmyshow.com the online movie and entertainment ticketing portal which was launched by the Web18 guys last year has gone aggressive with its marketing and reach of its services to consumers.
Bookmyshow has launched its online ticketing service on mobile through wap/gprs. One can book tickets now by logging on to http://m.bookmyshow.com through ones mobile phone and downloading an application to book tickets anytime through ones mobile.
Besides for going mobile Bookmyshow has also launched an interesting facebook application called Faltoo Flicks which allows facebook users to pick from B-grade movies list and send a virtual ticket for the movie to a friend on Facebook. This concept is sure to catch on as it takes the tongue in cheek approach and fun element.
The agency behind this application is Webchutney which previously was well known for its Virals. I guess being invested in by Capital18 has its perks as you get a ready client in Web18 and all its properties to experiment with and showcase your skills which otherwise wont be possible with other clients. The other client that Webchutney has made facebook application for is Makemytrip A longtime beneficiary of webchutney’s award winning viral work.
On the whole it does look like Bookmyshow seems to have got its marketing stuff in the right place. What remains to be seen is how does it drive the mobile usage and bring about more than just a branding impact through facebook and gets some actual transactional numbers in place on the site.

it is a good website
by this website we can book tickets easily
I think that now that Airtel has partnered with XIUS-bcgi to create a contact-less distribution - I think this is going to change the way that we use mobile phones to make payments. I imagine that soon, as soon as we see an active poster for a movie, we can point our mobiles to it and pay for it using our mobile wallet.
