Jobs and dating are two hot favourites among the Internet users. Ever since these two categories begun posting “opening” online. They have been flooded by potential “suitors”.
We have had a lot of dating sites already. Even most of the new “Social Networking” sites are degrading into dating sites. Many of them have successfully made money. And the rest, hope to do so by exploiting the “need to be with someone”, that every man has.
Speed dating is a recent phenomenon, where at a gathering, some males and females collect and have short interviews with each other. Till a bell rings, when the partners are changed again to have discussions with some other potential date. After this the members decide which of the partner will they like to date.
LiveSpeedDating.com is an online service which claims to offer the same benefits of speed dating, via a browser-interface. The people can have audio/video chat with each other and later, give their feedback/testimonial for each person they have talked to. Basically, they have to rate the other user as “dateable” or “Don’t date”. At the end of the game, all the people who have flagged each other as “dateable” are notified. Now, a little spoiler. They claim the video quality is far better as they are using HD –quality video. Adobe has recently launched their latest Flash Media Server with the ability to stream HD quality video, and LiveSpeedDating.com will be taking advantage of that.
In my test, the chat application loaded, but there were no one available for a chat. The audio-video chat didn’t load. The technologies that they mentioned are quite contemporary; the execution is, however, what I am looking at. With application hanging mid-way, and no one available, when I desperately want a “date”, the experience was less-than-satisfying.
But this service will take up as time goes by. As I mentioned earlier in this post, dating is a hot favourite and users (read men) will flock to it.
