NDTV Profit Revamps Website & Launches Live Streaming On WatchIndia.tv

NDTV Convergence the company that looks after the web aspects of NDTV initiatives has revamped the ndtvprofit site to be more in touch with the current users needs. Sanjay Trehan, CEO, NDTV Convergence Ltd, said, “The aim of the revamped website is to be ‘your personal finance manager’ with ‘news you can use.”
Honestly at first impression there isn’t much that would impress you about NDTV Profit’s so called new look as im not sure what has changed. The top banner still opens up without even clicking and covers half the screen (click screenshot below!)
I gave the video’s on the site a run and they do load pretty fast (atleast on my connection) so brownie points there for NDTV. But on the whole any news website especially tv news site can learn from ibnlive.com who according to me are having a better UI among Indian news websites.
Besides for revamping NDTVProfit.com NDTV has also tied up with Watchindia.tv for live streaming of news stories right from the channel. According to Sanjay Trehan “This partnership will offer global audiences the best of India’s business and financial news live on a digital medium. Now, Indians living abroad will always be able to watch expert commentary and insightful business reporting at Profit channel.”
Once again NDTV has gone for a tieup strategy. I guess it comes from the fact that they are primarily a media company and would not want to invest in their own technology. They had done the same when they had tied up with ammas.com for answers. Im not sure how much NDTV will benefit from these tie ups but one this is for sure the startups that seem to be tying up with NDTV will surely benefit!

I don’t find NDTV news on watchindia.tv. I am not sure about their business website but the news website sucks (for streaming part of it).
The stream is very very bad (here in USA) and always has a lag between picture and sound. It is a flash based feed which not many people have done before. I think content delivery (LIVE) is better off with Windows Media Player or Quicktime. If you see ibnlive.com, the content (deferred) is on flash platform but the live news feed is on WMP. I hope NDTV understands this. Right now ibnlive.com has by far the best live and on-demand content delivery.
Pretty good channel IMHO
