Recently it was reported that an undersea cable broke down in the Mediterranean due to the negligence of a ship in its anchoring process.  To further add to those woes, a new submarine cable has also snapped. The cause of the second break is not exactly known but a repair ship has been deployed.

According to BBC News, the first cable cut caused interruptions of about 70% in Egypt and about 60% in India.

If you faced problem with the Internet do let us know - we can possibly get some constructive discussions about the current network framework and how it can be enhanced.

According to research firm tele geography, three cables connect Europe and South East Asia - now that 2 have snapped, problems will be compounded as we will have to rely on an older Sea - M - We 3 Cable. In other words - expect more problems.  Im not too sure how many Indian businesses will be adversely affected considering the fact that a small percentage of Indians are online anyway. It will adversely affect the BPO and KPO Businesses - and also businesses like our very own WATConsult. As we had noted earlier, redundancy along with uptime are 2 things we need to be immensely cautious about and possibly have some crisis management procedures in place especially as Indian Businesses migrate online.

  2. @Kartik - Difficult to say coz some areas are the only ones affected. As our internet seems to work fine both home and office!
