Travelguru To TAP The Long Tail Of Blogs & Websites Through An Affiliate Program

Sometime back Travelguru had gone for shopping and bought desiya.com. This deal helped travelguru to build a strong base in UK. Google’s partnership with HolidayIQ simplified the search for local hotels. Travelguru has now launched “The Travelguru Affiliate Program” (TAP) to increase its revenue.
What is TAP?
It is a program that offers the website and the blog owners to be a part of travelguru by registering themselves. TAP is launched to generate additional income by selling or promoting the products and services of travelguru on the websites or blogs of registered users. TAP will earn Rs 75000 or more per month to the website and blog owners if they sell reasonable numbers (no information on how ‘reasonable’ these numbers will be) of products or services to the client.
It’s the smart marketing strategy used by Travelguru to increase their visibility in the online travel business. Even if the registered websites or blogs fail to make a ‘reasonable’ sell then they might just earn nothing or maybe some amount. But travelguru gets advertised on the websites and the blogs by paying nothing.
On this Mr. Hari V Krishnan, Vice President – Product and Marketing, Travelguru said, “We are always on the look out for viable partners to share in the strong growth story of online travel. We are the market leader in online hotel sales and offer the largest range of hotel options in India. Selling our hotels will automatically draw a lot of people to the affiliate sites, and they will get to share in the big sales numbers we anticipate from this channel.”
A big share from big sales will only be possible if they make a ‘big sale’ else advertising Travelguru on their website may not help them in earning money but might help in improving traffic on their sites or blogs. It will also be interesting to see the additional income that will be contributed by the affiliate sites.
