Now Give Your Mock Entrance Tests On Tata Indicom Mobile!

In one of my recent posts, I have discussed about IIT lectures on YouTube, this made it go international. But was unable to reach the small towns and villages where Internet is still can not be accessed. There are lots of people in India who are still uncomfortable using Internet. To break this disability Tata Tele Services Ltd (TTSL) has launched M-Education.

What is M-Education?

M-Education is an education on mobile phones using CDMA technology. This feature will also enable the user to take mock test and view study material on their Tata phones with the help of the CDMA technology. This will help in distance learning and will enable millions of non-Internet users to make use of it.

On this M Krishna, Governor of Maharashtra, said “I am delighted and privileged to be a part of this great moment to examine a new paradigm in education. We are at a very interesting time where the digital revolution has suddenly and silently arrived with its many opportunities. This is a novel idea to create the application and undertaking it to propagate it across the country.”

The content on the mobile will be managed by the SNDT Women’s Universities with TTSL. On this Dr. Chandra Krishna Moorthy, Vice Chancellor, SNDT University said “Our intent has been to provoke the educational fraternity to look at alternate means of reaching and every nook and corner of the country through the medium of developing this novel application. This service will enable the education beyond the four walls of a school or institution.” Presently, the content on the mobile phone will be available in Hindi and English and later in other regional languages.

This might be a good move to break the barriers in education but it does not guarantee that the content will be available in all places. As we still face a lot of network problem, as in there are times when your cell phone is unable to detect a network. For the service to meet its success i.e. the users it will be necessary for Tata Indicom to have a better network services than it currently does. I can say this as I was a Tata user for quite a long time.
