Mirrors are on a roll. Initially there was only Mumbai Mirror later on joined by Delhi Mirror and Bangalore Mirror. Out of these only Mumbai Mirror had a portal and now http://www.kolkatamirror.com joins the league.

Amitava Bhattacharya, General Manager, The Times of India Group, said, “The city-specific portal will be like a banyan tree providing information on everything happening in the city.” also emphasizing that the portal would not be a print version of Mirror.

Regarding the content of the portal he said “We will accept user generated content in a big way. At the moment, it is in its primitive avatar, but by the time it is launched the portal would look much better. We intend to make it a platform for strong communities. There will be a news section with hourly updates, information database and interactive elements. Users can upload content. Contests will be introduced once the site is officially launched. We intend to make Kolkatamirror.com a one-stop reference point for any information on Kolkata.”

The other products of Times of India are Economic Times, Navbharat Times, Mumbai Mirror, etc.  But all of them are not able to enjoy the lime light as TOI and Economic Times does. The reason being, it lacks quality news. These days news portals have been more of product promoters. Once logged into their portals, one can see a number of ads being displayed which at times are annoying. A reader generally finds it distracting while reading articles because many times these ads just keeps on flashing. We hope Kolkata mirror has something better to deliver to the locals.
