Zapak Gets Aggressive With Its Marketing Strategy : Announces New Gaming Tournament for the Corporate!

The recent I-Cube report will certainly annoy the so called “bosses.” According to the report, the gaming portal Zapak.com has a user base of 3.2 million registered users. The majority of them have been accessing the site from their office with an average 20 minutes spent every day gaming. God save Me! I hope my boss hasn’t read the report and if in case he does, he will certainly screw me up (jus kidding).

The report further states that 75% of the gamers are engaged in casual gaming while the rest of them are more into hardcore games like Counter Strike. No wonder Zapak has announced the Corporate Gamer 2008 tournament targeting office gamers. It will be held over two weekends of February culminating in a national final in Mumbai on February 23, 2008. It will be held in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.

Rohit Sharma, COO, Zapak Digital Entertainment said “playing games was a good stress buster and the tournament would be promoted across all mediums. We will be using a lot of online publicity through our site along with TV spots. There will be a 360-degree campaign on the initiative with BTL activities at the key centers.”

We have an interesting rumor for you. Apparently BigFM a part of Reliance Entertainment Group (the same group that owns zapak.com) refrain its employees from accessing the gaming site. Pretty weird! In a way they come up with a tournament for Office working people and on other hand their own people aren’t allowed to visit the site.

Reliance has been very aggressive with its marketing strategies no matter it is their social networking or gaming site. Recently Zapak had come up with ATM cash games contest and then with calendar featuring gorgeous women in gaming avatar and now this corporate contest. It is pretty clear that Zapak is trying to attract more people to their site by giving away cash prizes. They need not worry for their finances as they are backed by the Reliance Group who has plenty to give as of now. It will be interesting to see how long this goes on.
