The global mobile marketing industry was worth $1.8 billion in 2007 and is expected to grow to $24 billion by 2013, according to ABI Research. With over 200 million mobile subscribers its no surprise that the mobile advertising space is one with bubbling enthusiasm. With every passing day newer and newer players enter this market or add some new innovative model, feature or mode of delivery to their mobile ads. Still at what most would call an experimental stage mobile ads are surely here to stay though it may go through several trial and error processes that any nascent industry goes through. Offlate there has been tremendous action seen in this space and here is a rounding up of the updates:

Zest Adz Launches Facebook Mobile Ads

Zest Adz a mobile advertising company owned by Mobile Worx a company we have profiled before has announced the launch of ads on facebook mobile platform allowing facebook developers to integrate mobile ads with their facebook mobile apps. Anyone who has ever used facebook mobile version will know what a treat it is to use it on mobile when compared to other websites on mobile. So launching ad solutions for targetting facebook mobile users isn’t a bad idea at all.

“Mobile Social Marketing is extremely important space for us to be in and we’re getting started with facebook which is very popular in India”, said Asif Ali, CTO mobile-worx adding that “We hope that this launch enable both advertisers and publishers to capitalize of the phenomenal growth of mobile Internet in India”.

Flytxt Mobile Ad Platform Launches in India

Flytxt is a UK mobile advertising and marketing firm that has launched its ad platform, Neon in India. While Zest Adz was platform for mobile ads on Neon as a mobile ad platform provides SMS short codes, SMS marketing, WAP sites and branded applications.
Sanjit Chatterjee, Country Manage Flytxt said “We realise most marketers and telecom operators in India have information databases about users. With number portability norms coming in, telecom carriers will have to compete to retain subscribers and it will be difficult for marketers to reach out to a targeted audience. The strategy is to target brands, media companies and telecom operators and help them send out targeted messages to the audiences.”

Mobisolv Adz Go Regional

mobiSolv a mobile solutions company launched regional language capability for its mobile advertising platform myAdz. The regionalization of the web is a process that gained pace much of 2007. Now its interesting to see that even mobiles are being added with regional language capabilities. With a subscriber base of 200 million and above mobile have far more recah and penetration and therefore the need for vernacular ads seems very logical. Though regional content on mobiles still needs to mature for the ads to be more effective.

On the whole it does seem like mobile advertising is booming. What remains to be seen if this platform quickly engages both advertisers and consumers and creates some interesting case studies and success stories on which it can further build its credibility.
