GTalk on Facebook?!?!

I recently discovered that Facebook has added an application which can be used as the GTalk chat client.

After spending some time trying to figure out the interface and how to go about adding the application I finally managed to get myself to use it.

What’s interesting is that the interface is completely similar to the GTalk messenger for windows and the Mac. While signing on to the application, it first redirects you to a Google Accounts page in a new window and once you’ve signed in the page gets redirected to your Facebook profile page.

The application also lets you use the voice talk feature, which is available for Windows users only.

On further research I realized that this application has been made available on Facebook since October 2007. However I did not see many Facebook users logging on this application. This is definitely an add on to the already existing, GMail on Facebook app. But it does not seem like Facebook users want to use it.

So with Facebook having unofficial applications where you can check your Orkut profile, GTalk and Gmail, the question of what is Google’s take on these developments is what needs to be seen. It might only be a matter of time when you would be able to access Google through Facebook!
