The Indian online advertisng space is up for some hot action. We have blogged about Komli receiving $7 million in funding from investment firm Nexus Capital and co-investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) and Helion Ventures.

 

Komli has clients such as naukri.com, MakeMyTrip.com and Times Group. The Komli Performance Network and the Komli Premium Network are the services by Komli that help the publishers monetize their inventory of content. PubMatic is another of services of Komli helps publishers helps publishers optimize the value of their online advertising. PubMatics also helps optimize the layout of the ads. Komli recently launched Search RePlay, which combines search and display advertising to allow advertisers to advertise more effectively.

 

Komli’s founder and CEO, Amar Goel, says,

 

“The funding will go towards doubling the size of our team, which is currently 30. We will also be investing in data mining technologies and algorithms which will help advertisers predict customer behaviour. We will roll out these new products this year.”

 

The money will be used primarily in expansion.

 

New Delhi based Tyroo, in which Yahoo had picked up a substantial stake has also been on a hiring spree. The New Delhi, India based company will soon be moving to its new office in Gurgaon, India, with increased capacity. Tyroo is an ad-network which has developed its indigenous technology for serving relevant ads on the websites.

 

Another important association has been the acquisition of the digital firm Quasar media by WPP.

 

In the light of these recent deals, digital marketing and online advertising seems to have finally caught up with the mainstream advertising.

It will be interesting to note how the market dynamics shape up in the near future.
