JAMming @ Club Jam – A Youth Centric Community by Jam Magazine

Jam Magazine which had earlier launched  freshers job portal in JobOkPlease.com has gone ahead and introduced a youth community called Club Jam on their site Jammag.com. The Community Portal looks like its powered by Ning API the social networking platform.

According to Arjun Ravi, online editor at JAM they didn’t want to make Club Jam a social network. They wanted it to be a place for college students and budding writers to have their work published. He said “since all the contributions received in the magazine cannot be accommodated in print, the web is a good platform for the content”.

It a smart move to use an offline brand in Jam Magazine and create  a community around it through your readers who might have something to say. The only problem is any initiative of Jam Magazine be it the JobOkPlease or the club Jam would require some focussed efforts inorder to really build value as an internet property. Just by launching a site and promoting through your newspaper wont build any real value.

I believe thats where SEO comes in .Most of the time all you need to do is put your product out there irrespective of your target customers. Then again , if your target customers don’t find your product in their internet routine , your product could get lost somewhere in the world wide web.
    Hence SEO = Product Placement!!!!
