Its just been a week since the new year started and already the money seems to be pouring in when it comes to online startups. Million dollar funding news has almost become the norm in the internet and mobile circles. So here are two more updates on who got funded by whom and what it means for the competitors.

pubmatic

Ad Network Komli announced that it has received a total of $7 million of venture financing led by Nexus India Capital, along with co-investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Helion Ventures. Komli it seems would be using this funding to focus on Pubmatic a service we have blogged about before which helps publishers optimize the value of their online advertising. Pubmatic had also featured among the Techcrunch40 list of promising startups.

Komli has been constantly in the news for different kinds of services like Search RePlay which combines search and display advertising to allow advertisers to more effectively target customers and behavioral targeting which is supposedly increasing customer traffic and lead volume for Komli users.

studyplace

The other startup to be funded is StudyPlaces.com which was earlier backed by Naukri.com. Now news has it that StudyPlaces.com has secured 3 Million $ in funding from KPCB and Sherpalo (Previous investors of Naukri.com). Its seems like naukri’s earlier investors are in agreement with its strategy of targetting the education sector by backing a player like StudyPlaces. It will be interesting to see how Naukri rolls out its Shiksha plans for India which have been doing the rounds for a while now.
