Everyone is aware of the potential the internet space holds. Today setting up a blog or a site is no longer a big deal but all the pain lies in optimizing your site/blog for a better Google Page Rank, Alexa Ranking and even getting listed at higher levels in top search engines. Well the answer is pretty clear it has been supported by huge funding, it has plenty of man power and blah..blah..blah.. right? Nope, you are wrong? To some extent I can agree but what makes Google so popular is its SEO (Search Engine Optimization). That’s true and many of us will surely agree with me.

Many bloggers and companies very often contact us for our advice regarding SEO. In other words, help them to increase their blog/site traffic. The only thing that I keep on hearing from most of them is “getting traffic is pain in ass and we find it difficult to create a better visibility for our site/blog in cyber space“. The truth is due to lack of knowledge they find it difficult. So here I am, sharing few SEO tips with everyone that I have learned from my gurus, because that’s the way it works – we learn, we share and we gain.

· Magic Keywords – Yes you heard it right. The word is magic keywords. Trust me you would never want to write on something that people are not interested in reading, because we all are here to share and learn. Every post you write should contain the relevant keywords as it helps in optimizing your site/blog and also the content should be good. But be sure that keywords are not over done or else it will be considered as Black Hat SEO and you might land up getting banned from most of the search engines. These are few sites which help you to track the popular keywords: Google AdWords Keyword Tool, Overture Keyword Selector Tool, Search King and many more.

· Link Building – Link Building is another good tool which helps you to get a higher page rank. When people start linking to your site it tells the search engine that your site has content worth reading. The best way is commenting on a higher page rank sites/blogs with a relevant comment. That will get you some amount of traffic.

· Discover Your Enemies - This is what I mean: your competitors are your enemies because they have a better page rank than you, they steal away your readers, they are getting a great review about their posts, etc. What you need to do is discover your potential competitors and keep a track of incoming links they get. This will enable you to have a fantastic edge over your enemies.

· Optimizing Your Website Title – Popular keywords in the title helps you to get better visibility on search engines. Though most of the search engines consider repetition of keywords as spamming. But smart work like this can surely help you out Eg: Internet Marketing| Website Promotion | RC Advertising. Over here notice the sign “|” between the phrases these are the tricks which will help you to optimize your site much better than your competitors.

· Use of A Specific Title – Very often it has been seen that many web address do not have description regarding the site. Eg www.orkut.com says nothing about a place to make new friends. Where as sites like www.placetomakefriends.com will help search engines to know that this site is regarding making friends.

· Using Robots.txt File Is A Good Idea – This is one of the easiest ways to optimize your site. All you need to do is include a robots.txt file at the root of your website. It can be done by opening a text editor such as Notepad and type “User-agent:*”. Then save the file as robots.txt and upload it to your root directory on your domain. This command helps any spider that hits your website to crawl freely every page of your website.

· Site Maps – I personally feel that every site should have a site map and should be linked to every page of the site. This helps the search engine to find every page quite easily.

· Multiple Domains – In case you have more than one domain and several topics that can support each other than it’s a good way to increase your traffic and its worth having multiple domains.

· Newsletters – Start offering your articles to various ezine publishers because the links of your articles archived by them have a very long life.

· Analytics – Keeping a track of your site is quite important. It gives a detail analysis regarding your visitors, page views, which country gives you maximum traffic and much more.
