NDTV Has One More Tie Up! This time with Ammas.com! Launches NDTV Answers
Email It!
NDTV Convergence strategy has been very clear since last year. Its looking at tieups as a way to add new web services into its portfolio. So if in 2006 it tied up with yellojobs.com to power NDTVJobs.com (which tieup was later ended in 2007) now NDTV has tied up with Ammas.com to launch NDTV Answers. Ammas.com is a yahoo answers clone but rather than users asking users there is a team of expert panelists. Ammas.com has been in news on WATBlog before for its tie up with sify and its virtual money concept.
NDTV and Ammas tieup can be seen as a move by NDTV to constantly move into the consumer generated content space. Though by doing such tie ups NDTV isn’t really creating assets as the actual right would always stay with the platform provider. So this deal is doing a lot more for ammas than NDTV. Infact even the integration of the ammas QnA integration seems like its been done with an Iframe rather than customization of even the looks of the site.
NDTV has fallen once when its much popularised job portal ndtvjobs.com was shut down after yellojobs.com pulled the plug on the contract we concluded last year. It was a great way for yellojobs to test the market before entering it full fledged but the yellojobs tieup didnt really create any online media assets for NDTV which actually defeats the purpose of a tieup in the first place. Lets hope NDTV does try something different soon and start creating or acquiring properties on the web just like its contemporaries Network18, UTV and Zee are doing.
