We had an events update for december wherein multiple events surrounding the web and startups were happening across India. The year 2008 has upped the events quotient even further as this month 3 events would be taking place which i think you should make on your calendar and make a point to attend (Or you can meet us as well as we shall be attending all three and also covering them on WATBlog !)

IAMAI Digital Marketing Summit - 10th & 11th January - Delhi - The first event is the Flagship event of IAMAI i.e. The Digital Marketing India organised by The Internet And Mobile Association of India in association with the Ministry of IT Goverrnment of India. This event is one of the few which brings digital marketers from across the globe. So the keynote speakers are from countries like US, UK, Japan, Korea, Hongkong and Singapore. The panelists include indian SEM entrepreneurs like Vivek Bhargava of Communicate2 and Mahesh Murthy of Pinstorm, Online advertising players like V Ramani from Connecturf and Kiran Gopinath of Ozone Media, Matrimony Players like J.Murugavel of BharatMatrimony and Anupam Mittal of Shaadi.com. There is also Manikdaran Venbu from Zoho who would be an interesting speaker to listen to given Zoho’s international exploits. On the whole i expect the year to be kicked off with some interesting insights and discussions with this event.

OMCAR 2008 - Online Marketing Career Conference - 12th January - Dehli - This ones a first in the internet scene in India a conference just to address the growing shortage of trained, talented staff in the online space. The real need of this kind of jobs related event can be understood from the fact that even Google is participating to hire staff from this event. Other Online marketing companies include communicate2, pinstorm, ozone media, komli and omlogic. Omlogic is the company that is behind the organization of this conference which is being organized as a Non Profit event. All i can say is may god give more power to these guys as this is much needed conference if the digital space needs to grow and solve the talent crunch.

Proto.in - The Startup Event - 18th & 19th January - Chennai - Proto has come a long way since it had its first even in January 2007. Its one event that has been able to scale both in size and in quality (something indian startups can learn from.). Ive had the priviledge of attending the earlier two Proto events and have also been on their organising committee and can say with utmost confidence that this January Proto.in would be bigger and better than before. I myself am expecting to see some path breaking startups. So incase you would like to get a glimpse into the future of indian technology do hop on a flight to chennai by 18th.
