Advertisers are well on the way to spend a huge percentage of their media plan on the Internet in coming years, By 2011, spending on advertisements online is expected to dominate the media plan for various product ranges.

One big trend is that the nation’s largest advertisers are shifting more of their budgets from traditional media to the Internet,
· Various MNC’s are adding their market grip on the web using various innovative mediums like microsites (Mentos helpline, Sunsilk Gang of Girls).
· Various Biggies are entering the Social Networking arena to cater to various target audience as a huge chunk of people are readily available to target. (Reliance Zapak Etc)
· More than 33 % of the world population are available online and can be targeted through this medium.
· Small and Medium size business organizations are using the online medium to advertise and promote the business as it’s relative cheaper and highly effective also.
. Large Media houses like WPP and Network 18 are investing in online advertising agencies like Quasar and Webchutney.
What online advertising formats garner the largest advertising share?
Search, display and classified ads, in that order, get the greatest shares of Internet spending
- Local Search Sites are available for various cities and are getting narrowed down to stations as well.
- Display ads (such as static banners) are in getting in demand because the page hits on various sites are increasing day by day.
- Google / Yahoo ads, at all sites, including those on newspaper sites and in places such as eBay, Monster or HotJobs, are becoming a huge revenue generate medium for companies, as they using the model of pay per click concept.
- Multimedia marketing, which includes video advertising (both for Internet viewing and Mobile viewing routed through net), is rising drastically
- Social networking, though as of now, no proper marketing strategy is being developed. But it’s a huge market opportunity. As they are like a virtual market place. It’s great news for the online media cos. I think in the near future we’ll find a lot more emphasis of the advertisers on indic languages that’s hindi and other regional languages. It’s a real niche market for the advertisers to put their money into.
