Dating is exciting. Online or otherwise. At least, that’s the case with me. In off-line dating, the person whom we date is either known to us or it maybe a blind date where you haven’t seen the person but you know about him. Off-line dating is so much of fun, but it is restricted to few people or certain locality. Where as Online dating offers you people from all around the world.
Chemistry.com, MatchMaker.com, PerfectMatch.com, Match.com are some of the online dating websites. These websites help you meet strangers from all around the world. It gives a user the liberty to choose a date for her from the matches depending on their profiles. Online dating business is growing. A lot of people are joining the dating sites. Online dating has received a lot of success since last few years. With improvement in the technology these dating websites have come up with an application that hooks singles whose DNA is compatible with each other. This genetic match ensures that the couples have a satisfying sex life and healthy children.
Facebook has tied-up with Match.com, one of the oldest online dating websites to provide dating service. Tomorrow Facebook will be announcing Little Black Book, an application that will allow the Facebook users to view user profiles of those people who have signed in for finding a date for them.
This application will display the most challenging profiles that match the user profile. These profiles can also be viewed by the non-Facebook members but who are members of Match.com. Little Black Book can also be used to match yourself with your friends with a functionality called Match My Friend.
I guess Facebook is no longer a social network for networking, or friendship but a new gateway to online dating. Very soon all the social networks will turn into dating website and there will be day when users will have no networks for friendship but only for dating.

wow – i think thats quite smart. Its opt in stalking. So the essense of the Facebook brand isnt lost but it is capitalizing on voyeurism – something that Orkut took off on in Developing Countries.

I think its a very good move as far as business is concerned. Unlike Orkut, Facebook is much more safer when personal security is concerned. Little Black Book will only display that part of your profile that you wish to show to strangers. Lets hope that this move doesn’t play around with Facebook’s security. As people love Facebook for being a very secured social network.
