Online marketing is taking up the Internet space. An increasing number of web pages now display ads for marketing different product. Today the local advertising is taking over the Internet space. Plenty of Indian startups like Guruji.com, Asklaila.com and many others are getting into the online advertisement business.

In my yesterday’s article you read about Google India Local Search partnering with HolidayIQ. This is an Indian Local Search, but startups like Asklaila.com plan to launch a city specific local search engine. This search will enable the users to explore their own city or some other city they wish to. According to the industry research the online advertisement is to increase from Rs 210 crore in 2006 to Rs 2,250 crore by 2009. This is possible due to the number of the clicks being increased and so has the revenue increased from $1,000 to $3,000 per day, that’s almost 200% increase in the revenue.

Local Search Engine contributes 50% i.e. $14 billion to the online advertisement industry which is about $28 billion. Local Search Engine aim to target travel portals, education institution, banks and financial firms for advertising on these local search.

You must have noticed online advertisements on MSN, Yahoo and Google. They advertise almost everything on the web pages. Social Networks like Orkut and Facebook have also started advertisements. In many countries like China, Korea and Japan almost all the search engines and the social networking sites are local. Very soon India will be in the race with these countries in the field of online advertisements.
