A new trend of Indian bloggers taking the internet space to discover change in all areas of life including the corporate world is starting to grow. In India, blogging has become a powerful medium to express opinions and protests these days. Indian consumers are increasingly using the blogging space as an effective medium to voice their grievances, complaints and protests on their personal blogs and some even start blogs just to curb bad customer service raising their voices against even corporate giants.

One such example is of Vijay Rana, a London based NRI, who has launched a blog NRIfm.com for all harried Air-India passengers to help them voice their protests against Air-India.

Vijay Rana, founder editor of the blog NRIfm.com said in a statement:

“The blog is inviting passengers to record their experiences of travelling with Air India. The NRIfm.com is also conducting a web-poll about the attitude of Air India staff, asking questions such as — Is the Air India staff efficient, polite and courteous?”

This weekend, five Air-India flights remained grounded for a stretch of long hours and passengers were left stranded at New Delhi airport. This inconvenience has caused great grievance to frequent flyer’s of Air-India. Now here’s a chance for all customers of Air-India to voice their opinions in public by just visiting the blog and making their comments. There is even a poll that is being conducted on the website and approximately 1000 people have voted so far and that too in the negatively. The result of the poll has described Air-India’s staff as “Inefficient and unhelpful” as well as “Impolite and discourteous”.

Justifying the same, Vijay Rana was quoted as saying:

“There was no food, no water and nobody to care about the mother and children traveling to long distances like London and Toronto,”

Rana says that his blog has a lot of support. He proves it by saying:

“The blog is also supported by the Campaign for Public Accountability in India, a newly formed group of Indian citizens and the NRIs from the UK and the US.”

Rana feels that blogs are a powerful medium to communicate their views effectively. He feels that blogs let the common man to expose the faults in bigger organizations. He says:

“We decided to support this blog idea as we feel that in this age of Internet people have a powerful medium to expose organizations that fail to deliver service and lack customer satisfaction. Besides criticism we would love to hear some constructive suggestions how companies like Air India can improve their service.”

The trend of criticizing companies over the internet has taken the blogging space by storm. Bloggers are using the platform to voice their opinions against the government or even assert their “Rights to Information”. There is another blog just for Indian citizens to understand their “Rights To Information” and the blog has a lot of crucial information explaining the same. Certainly, the blogging opportunity for the average internet user holds truth as it is clearly making an impact in India as well as worldwide.

  1. I dont think such a blog is necessary, THe problem with customers is, they think they are the King and expect everything/everyone treat them as king., but we cant expect that from a government.

A government run organization will surely be faced with several problems including budget problems.,

They cant change the employees as and when they like.

A traveler (that too an Indian) should always understand the problems of the Indian employees working in a government concern

If the travelers are faced by humiliation and harsh words, thats a different problem and should be taken seriously, but they cant expect every luxury that they see in a private airline.

  2. Yeah, this is a very very cool blog. ;-)
I just added you to my favorites.

    Thanx,
    Mikey

  3. Hi Sarathy and Mikey.

Thank you for commenting on our blog.

We highly appreciate your comments and feedback.

    Sarathy:

We understand your concerns, however, a government is here to serve its countrymen in every way possible and just because they face problems does not mean they must provide a bad service for what they charge. They do not provide services for free to the local public and must be even better than the private players. If there would be no one to speak, the services of Air-India would not improve.

    Mikey:

We highly appreciate your comments and feedback :) Thank you.

    Regards,
    Ronak Shah.
