NDTV Convergence the digital arm of NDTV is all set to launch its first mobile portal (in beta) this December.
NDTV Active will be packaged with various mobile sites consisting of text-based content like news, movies, astrology, music, lifestyle and stocks. All the content would be coming from their online portal which has truck loads of content.
“NDTV Convergence is planning to monetize the portal through ads, sponsorships plus offering some sections of the portal on a subscription basis. Apart from this, we have plans for content syndication and we are in talks with a few mobile operators to provide content for their mobile portals.” Said Sanjay Trehan, CEO, NDTV Convergence.
It makes perfect sense for NDTV, they have enough content and taking it Mobile would surely be the next logical step. They also plan to introduce videos later on, but I don’t see videos catching on in the short term as videos on mobile have too many restrictions and I personally feel that India isn’t ready for videos yet.
