kreedaKreeda Games Bollywood based mass multiplayer online dance game Dance Mela has made it to the final list of 14 for Changemaker an initiative of ‘Ashoka: Innovators for the Public’ that focuses on the rapidly growing world of social innovation. DanceMela will compete with 13 countries and 75 games.

Kreeda was recently funded by IDG Venture whose MD Manik Arora spoke to us on WATShow about Kreeda and the importance of local content. According to Kreeda’s CEO Games like Dance Mela will be the ‘Soul of India’ and will surely help decrease the negative publicity against gaming as it has non-violent attributes of encouraging online communities through dance, chat, non-aggressive social interaction and fun with exercise.

If you ask me Im not so sure India is still ready to accept Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOG) in India. Its still looks like its early days for even casual gaming which even after the huge advertising spend by zapak is still finding its feet. To me gaming has atleast another 3 years more time (if not more) to be close to a rage in India.

  1. I see Dance Mela is a clone of Korean Audition Online that is so hot in Korea then Vietnam, China. IDGV India replicated from Vietnam and China networks.
