alibabaFor those of you who dont know Alibaba.com is one of the largest and the most visited portals in china offering B2B listings. Alibaba recently went for an IPO and listed in the Hongkong Stock Exchange (HSE). After raising money from the HSE it plans to use this money to expand in countries like Japan and India.

In India there have been B2B portals like tradeindia.com which have been running successfully over the last few years. The entry of a giant like alibaba would certainly make this sector quite competitive. Though it remains to be seen whether they launch at B2B portal or look at other consumer internet business like jobs, matrimony etc to acquire in India and get into these verticals?

Whatever might be the case the scene in India seems to be getting hotter day by day with International internet players looking at the Indian markets as the next natural level of expansion.
