Faayda.com
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is here to stay. A look around at the newer companies coming up shows this. SaaS is a model where the software functions are provided to the customer without actually letting him buy the software itself. Now that we have come to appreciate the value of outsourcing, adoption of SaaS seems like a natural progression. More and more businesses are realizing the importance of outsourcing and embracing the SaaS model. Faayda.com is a new startup which offers the service of accounting to SMBs. Users can generate an invoice and email to a client and track the payments. The businesses can focus on their core expertise. The site received 300 registrations in its first week. Prashant Parikh, the founder said that they plan to host a community based on the website. The online social community will focus on connecting the businesses. This will act as a platform for collaborating with each other. They also plan to offer a premium business directory later.

Belowed.com
Now this one is crazy. There are dating sites. There are matrimony sites. This one is your hindi-film-type romance site. Basically, Belowed.com is a site for people to meet up, fall in love and ultimately get married. So, this is a dating site for people who later want to marry their date. Yeah, even I thought its weird.

JobGypsy.com

OK, so Naukri.com helps you find a job. But is the company that your are going to work in good? How much do the pasta cost in the company canteen? How does the company celebrate the employee’s birthday? How are the increments? What kind of politics is played within the company? Ad whom should you butter the most if you need a pay-hike? Well, no job site has answers to these questions. But JobGypsy.com has. The users are employees of different companies who want to gossip about the employers. All the posts are made anonymously. The site promises “insiders information” on employers. Ahaan, I can already see a few eyes light up.

  1. JobGypsy - But … I think this functionality is already satisfied by the site called as Amoungus.com ! We get insider information here and can also tell our prioblems in an anonymous manner - wat ya say ??

  2. I started Goolti.com with a focus for honest employee reviews. JobGypsy seems to be a similar & bigger and more general site.

You have to be careful when you are having anonymous forums which give out opinions about companies people work for. If this site gets traction and companies find that they are being slandered with false information, be prepared for a lawsuit.

I get around 3 Cease & Desist letters(legal threat to stop slandering immediately or we will file a lawsuit) within a span of a month for slandered opinions on Goolti.com and have also got a lawsuit slapped on me which I had to settle.

But this is US and jobgypsy is focussed at India so things should not be that bad. However, if a co like Infy files a lawsuit against Jobgypsy, they will need to be ready to defend it. If anybody at Jobsypsy hasn’t thought about this already - its time to do that before you are pulled down.

  3. yeah you are right! they might have thought on this and have done their homework; if not better do it now. Overall this site seems to be pretty cool compared to it’s peers. Also the forums are well organized and quite appealing. Who knows it might stands out well in future!!!

  4. Hi , this is Swapnil, co-founder of JobGypsy.com. I really appreciate you all for taking time to visit JobGypsy.com and post your comments. I thought of taking this opportunities to answer some of those.
Renuka, After visiting amoungus.com, I feel they and JobGypsy are a bit different in approach and concept. Amoungus is facilitating discussion amoung employees for subject of their choice, while JobGypsy is intended in giving people an insight of organization on pre-defined parameters.
Harshal, our service policy clearly states that jobGypsy is not responsible for any of reviews - they are opinions of the people writing those reviews. We do perform checks to remove abuses and encourage reviews that give more of a balanced views about the organizations. We are regularly reviewing our service policy to be out of any lawsuits. Your inputs would probably be a good learning for us. You may contact me at swapnil[at]jobgypsy.com
