OK. This morning I blogged about the coming of age of mobile phone applications. Newer applications are coming by the day. And now, by half-a-day. So, a few hours after I wrote about ERP applications on Mobile, here is a new one. Marriage. BharatMatrimony has tied up with Nokia to offer its service as a part of “Nokia Catalogue”. Nokia Catalogue is a service by Nokia where a user can “shop” for different like, ring tones, games, applications and other such products. It’s described as an e-mall. The idea is to buy these stuff directly to your mobile phones.

And now, it seems that the BharatMatrimony listings will be available on Nokia handsets.

Well, it’s a “good-to-have” service as an extension. Marriage is an important event. People do a lot of planning for this. They gather a lot of information from all over the places. Newspapers, relatives and now the internet. To have mobile phones as another source will be a good add-on. However, we should keep in mind that the listings will be the same as that on the BharatMatrimony site. But still, it can be good to see the pretty faces without waiting for three minutes for the MS Windows to boot.

Catalog is a Java based software. And knowing how the companies introduce features in the products and then price it, Nokia may choose to put this software in a few higher-end mobiles. And this is where it can go wrong. For, the real value of this service will be for the people who do not frequently visit the internet. All they need to do is register once and then start browsing the profiles on their phones. A good option, and very convenient.

Let’s see how Nokia plays the pricing game.

Until then, get ready to browse through the catalog of prospective brides.
