Paymate one of indias leading mobile payment service is now launching a sms based advertising service which is some what similar to what others are already providing.
Paymate has tied up with some online travel agencies, travel Guru being the 1st and is providing a simple sms based service wherein users can search for travel related query and also book tickets via online travel agencies (eg travel guru).
So How Do The Ads Come In?
Well after a users has finished using the sms feature, he receives a sms from Paymate which will have a ad which initially will have promotional text ads from the travel portals. The deal sounds pretty fair, Imagine!! what if you were to receive an AD for a cheaper ticket for the destination you just bought… that would just hurt!!! 
PayMate claims that about 35 per cent of travelers booking their air tickets in India via travel agents or online travel agencies will receive this confirmation message.
What can we expect?
I personally prefer Paymate’s primary service which allows mobile payments, but i don’t see any flaw with this service either and am sure that it will work. How they plan to combat competition is something that even I would like to know. I am assuming that Paymate will also branch out to other spheres going ahead as there can be a lot more potential for eg, property portals like 99acres.com etc where users can search for property related info and get a advertising based text message in return.
