Mobile Gets You Mac Burger But…

First it helped us to talk. Then, to send written messages. Then, keep track of our appointments. Then, listen to songs, watch videos, surf the internet, and the latest addition to the stable of ever expanding capabilities of a mobile phone is, ordering a Big Mac, just for you. A story on Springwise says you can now browse the entire menu in a McDonalds right there sitting in your seat, order any item and you need not pay either in cash or cards ! The amount will be billed to your mobile bill.
Pretty good , haan. Seems like one more step towards eliminating the use of conventional money. The concept of using mobile as money has been around for a while now. I personally feel it’s a good concept. Regulations in India, however may prevent its usage in this form. RBI had earlier asked The Times Group (The Times of India, Economic Times, Femina, Filmfare) to “desist” from offering the e-wallet service. This service is m-wallet, similar to the concept of e-wallet. RBI’s point is, you cannot offer an alternative form of money, if you are not a bank. So, this kind of service, if and when launched in India, is sure to meet with roadblocks.
Even food-services. which this service is, are also getting hotter by the day. A player called Mobo (www.gomobo.com) entered this space last year (U.S.). A recent article on Springwise says Mebo is in expansion mode. Reportedly, Mobo helped the customers save some 3000 hours of time. Man, these Americans are always in a hurry. I don’t know if this model will work in India. Last weekend, I went to Andheri (Mumbai). There is a McDonalds right in front of the station. I was there waiting for a friend. It was weekend and crowded like hell. The waiters were on their toes asking anybody to quit, if they are done with the eating (India ! you see) . And there was this couple sitting infront of me. One Coke and half a burger on their plate. Everytime the waiter came to them, they pointed to their 47.3 % remaining burger in the plate, and the poor fellow had no choice but to leave them alone.
Technology is not the answer to everything, it seems.

Dear Mr. Ankit Saxena
I terribly disagree with your views on this product. I personally feel it is like “looking for nails after having a hammer”. Dont you think RFID has other useful applications ??….Is this what innovation is all about ?….Innovation should be useful, not just for the sake of it.
Well nice idea ….but personally I would like to keep life simple…. technology should used more to increase efficacy in life and not complexity…. Also as you mentioned its not answer to all ..
