HSBC is one financial services company that is making good use of the internet when it comes to brand building using web 2.0.. Unlike other financial services companies that use internet purely for lead generation and ROI.

Even earlier we had blogged about HSBC’s strategy with yourpointofview.com an international campaign in which they tried to associate their brand with the positioning that “We understand your point of view“.

Now HSBC has gone ahead and launched an India specific campaign targetted at asking users for their solutions  to Global, Environmental, Social, National and everyday problems on a new microsite at YourSolutions.co.in. So HSBC is asking your solution for issues like..

  • Keeping Kolkatta Clean
  • Making Delhi Roads Safer
  • Ice melting Water level rising
  • Growth at the cost of our environment and so on..

Again HSBC is using the online medium to connect its brand to a positioning statement this time is “HSBC provides your solutions“. It is also inviting user generated content through video responses and comments to the problems.

I wish more companies could take a leaf out of HSBC’s book and build a web 2.0 strategy that brings branding benefits which go way beyond bringing short term gains though leads.
