Well its raining startups this saturday so we have clubbed three of them in the part 1 of this saturday. All 3 of them either belong to ecommerce, information or the classifieds space.

Let the startups roll..

ninemotionNinemotion - Ninemotion is a service marketplace Very much like rentacoder or elance where small businesses who are looking to outsource work can put projects online on ninemotion and have service providers whether inividual or companies bid for the same and then followup to complete the project.

In nineMotion, buyers of services can

  • Find the right providers for their requirements
  • Publish requirements using step-by-step processes relevant to their needs
  • Evaluate and compare proposals from providers
  • Negotiate contracts and terms of delivery
  • Award projects
  • Collaborate with the providers
  • Plan and track outsourced projects

In nineMotion, providers of services can

  • Showcase their profiles and expertise
  • Search and find requirements interesting to them
  • Submit proposals to buyers using step-by-step templates and processes
  • Negotiate contracts and terms of delivery
  • Win projects
  • Collaborate with the buyers
  • Plan and manage their projects including status reporting to their customers

Ninemotion has already facilitated 20,000$ worth of service delivery across 88 projects. This startup is started by Deepak Vinchi, an IIT Mumbai alumni whose interview can be read here. Though started by an indian team such web services take time to scale and highly depend of good word of mouth for their expansion.

erailErail.in - Erail is railways data reproduced in the most user friendly manner! If you have booked rail tickets through the Irctc website or tried to find the trains and journey timings you know the complicated UI which makes train searching such a pain!

Well eRail.in is trying to do everything that reduces this pain. read about these guys here and I must admit the way the data is presented in eRail is a fantastic example of arranging data in a eye candy manner. eRail gives information on all the train, their fares and the stations they stop at between any two destinations i.e. very much like a air ticketing portal you can select to see the trains between mumbai and bangalore and then see all related information about fares, timings, and the travel route of these trains. eRail has a map feature too which says coming soon. This site has been built by 5Map a online GIS solutions company which calls its a company hobby project.

hello intern jobs india HelloIntern.com -Though there have been many job portals and recently even naukri.com has been looking at niche areas of online jobs internship is an area which largely remains ignored. The most obvious reason is ofcourse that internships is seasonal and also no one wants to pay a recruiter or a job site to hire an intern.

But with the rising requirement of staff in India which is pushing even companies like wipro to open recruiting agencies one can imagine that interns would be in demand as well. HelloIntern makes a good attempt at catering to this interns market. The site has a good look and also an easy 1 page job posting and signup form. Currently the site is free for both employers and interns and is monetized through google ads. Hopefully they can find a good business model along the way as im sure most interns would find this a useful service.

Thats it for the first part of Saturday Startups we shall have 4 more startups reviewed in the 2nd part to be up in a few hours! So stay tuned!

However, leaving that murky quality aside Rajiv does some excellent analysis of the digital media industry in India and often puts many in discomfort with his inimitable style of interviewing.
