Buzz18 launches Online Short Film Contest!

Buzz18 which is the entertainment portal among the large number of web portals owned by web18 has announced an Indian short film contest in association with the production house Pritish Nandy Communications. This Short Film Contest is aimed at providing a platform to upcoming film makers to showcase their talent.
The contest is called Shortcut and the entries for the same cannot be more than 10 minutes long and have to be submitted before the October 20th 2007. After the submission a jury comprising of personalities like Ms. Rongita Pritish Nandy(Creative Director, Pritish Nandy Communications), Mr. Prahlad Kakar (Ace Ad film maker) and others would judge the short movies and select the best from the lot. The winner of the contest will get to direct a movie under the Pritish Nandy Communications banner.
 Ms. Chandrima Pal, Editor, Buzz 18 said,”Shortcut was one of the earliest initiatives for buzz18, something we got started on even before we launched. This was done to provide all those aspiring filmmakers a platform for showcasing their work. A platform that is neutral, unbiased and is accessible to people across the world.”
Its interesting to see video becoming an important part of the online strategy with youtube coming to India and with initiatives like buzz18 amateur film makes are sure to get their 60 seconds of fame online. What needs to be seen is whether the general junta takes to uploading, downloading or even viewing such amateur work?
