Do Not Call – A Big Hit!

do not call directoryMobile users tired of annoying telemarketers can rejoice! Come October 12, a National Do Not Call Registry (NDNC) will be in place in accordance with the directions laid by The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).  So if you have registered with your respective telecom service providers before August 31, no phone calls and SMSes will be sent to you after the 12th of this month.

On the other hand, if you have registered after August 31 your number would stop receiving calls within a span of 45 days, which is the duration required for the inclusion of the number in the registry. Now there is one catch here though. This NDNC applies only for those who have registered with their mobile operators and the telemarketers registered with TRAI. An unregistered telemarketer can still bug you.

The introduction of NDNC was not welcomed by telemarketers initially. But there’s a glimmer of hope still left as only 6.5 million subscribers have registered which is only 3.25% of the total country’s mobile population.

If you want to register for the NDNC list, just call your telecom operator’s helpline or visit their respective websites.

It will be interesting to see what telemarketers do next to target customers, will the “get paid for receiving sms’s model” work!!!  Or telemarketers have something better in mind, do share your thoughts on the same.
