Property and Markets available on Mobile

Moneycontrol.com now on mobile

Moneycontrol.com one of indias biggest online news providers (part of Web18) has just introduced a ‘Market for Mobile’ service for its users which allows users to access Stock information from their cell phones on the go. All the operators across India would be offering this service to their users. Operators like hutch till now only provide very basic information about the market.

According to indiantelevision.com users would be able to offer news, markets statistics, indices, portfolios, detailed listings of stocks and watchlist through GPRS.

an article dated 5th July 07 by Hindu Business line claimed that hutch has had a tie up with moneycontrol.com to provide similar services wherin users would have to pay Rs25 or Rs40 based on different monthly packages.

there are similar services which the BSE is offering on mobile. they have a wap site http://wap.bsewebx.co.in
from which users can access stock, indices, quotes etc. the can also buy shares from their cell phones.

I just called up Hutch care (111) and they say that they have no idea about any tie-up with moneycontrol, nor do they have any information regarding the same..

Magic Bricks launches app for mobile

Magic bricks one of India’s biggest property portal is offering a mobile app to its users, using which users can search for property using their mobile handsets.

It’s a light 50kb app that can be easily downloaded. I did have a go at it, the app is clean and neat and pretty easy to use. the only problem I faced was that I couldn’t choose my locality. (e.g. Churchgate, Colaba, etc).

Users can get the app from the mobile website of magicbricks where users can provide their cell nos after which they will receive a download link on their cell phone in the form of a message.

I agree that mobile phones are on a rapid rise in India and that smartphones are also quickly entering the Indian pockets, but making people use this service by asking them to install… humm not so sure. Instead I would prefer it if I would be updated on my cell phone regularly about properties that suit my budget and are in the locality I want (basically best matches which suit my requirements). let me know your thoughts.
