Ibibo has launched a mobile service for their users where users on ibibo can speak to each other over their cell phones absolutely free. (source – pluggd.in)
Users can only make these free calls only within India (which is still great).
With all the speculation revolving privacy issues on social networks, ibibo’s mobile service does not display the caller or the recipients number to any of the parties thus keeping privacy intact. Users also have an option to allow users only form their friends list and not outside.
This service is not a new service. Similar services have always been there. Like for e.g. Jaxtr it allows users to communicate (even internationally) with each other without disclosing number details of any party.
What I really appreciate is that ibibo has taken an existing service and have leveraged it for their social network by trying to connect people all over. I am sure it will be well appreciated by the users of ibibo.
Now where it comes to actual usage, I did try out the service but wasn’t able to connect with anyone. I tried with three users and wasn’t able to connect with anyone. I am not sure what must be the reason, but I am hoping that this doesn’t turn out to be a service which is available but never works.
As I was not able to connect with anyone, I wanted to know how does ibibo support this service, I mean are there ads before the call is connected or limited talk time or something else?…

If my guess is accurate, it should be a regular p2p call through a ibibo VPN network. Its as if the call is being made by a IbiBo landline number.
Of course, for the time being ibibo will need to bear this expense in hope of getting more registers to sign up.
Yes Sameer, what ur saying makes sense, an Voip option is also possible. i guess they are able to bear the cost due to the Funding they received.. orelse it would be a huge cost to bear.

Thanks and keep giving ur valuable thoughts
There is a limitation to this. You can talk for a maximum of 10 minutes/month. I have tried this service and it works absolutely fine with amazing voice clarity. However, the call seems to disconnect within/after 3 minutes (probably the same restriction that the Indian toll free numbers use). However, makes sense. So go ahead and make hay while the sun shines.
Hello
You can try Twoip.CallMe (www.twoiplink.com) to make international calls to any cell or land phone at rates as low as 1.9 cents per minute. No downloads or installations like Skype and voice quality far better than Jaxtr.
Twoip.CallMe works with dial up slow conmection.
Twoip.Connect is an ideal product to integrate to your web applications. Members can call each other without exposing their phone numbers. The caller needs a microphone and the receiver can get the call in his cell or land phone.
hey, its great if it is free mobile to mobile care. just tell me how to activate it.
hey
if its free to call anywhere in india please let me know and how to activate it
After getting registered I was able to make the free mobile-mobile call twice only but now I m not able even to dial the number…..I dont know why either Ibibo restrict me or I m missing the process

Yes u’re right, its just a gimmick for attracting membership for 3 minutes. Only 1 call can be made in a lifetime from ibibo. just boooooooooo…..
