I just came across the press release and it intrigued me as it said India’s first Video Search Engine - SneakCast.com! There have been International players like players such as Blinkx, Truveo and Dabble but I couldn’t help but click on the link to find out more..

screencast.comSo here is what i found.. SneakCast.com is probably one of the few indian startups that impressed me not only with their design but their results as well. They have been very simple in the homepage much like google in its early days with just a logo a search bar and a search button.

On searching for the term twenty20 i found relevant videos but the only glitch was that the site didn’t seem to include youtube or google video as one of the sites it searches for videos. It searched dailymotion, metacafe, divx and myspace videos as far as i could tell. On trying to search for the team behind this startup i didn’t find much at all. Its as if the team doesn’t want to disclose itself.

The site also allows digg like positive and negative voting functionality for users to promote and demote videos based on relevancy and also allows users to save and review videos. knowing the fact that they have just launched on 25th September i think its an awesome start. The press release also states that the team at SneakCast has several other features in pipeline and will be released with time, in order to suit the user’s search pattern. How well sneakcast does will depend on their future plans and marketing as well but as far as product is concerned i guess they have what is required they just need to add more features and if possible include youtube into the search results as well.
