Google Launches Video Alerts!

If you are an active online reader then you should have heard or even subscribed to the Google alerts service. Google alerts which started as an alert service for google news quickly expanded to Blogs and web alerts for keywords. Those who dont know how google alert works basically you input keywords i.e. incase you want news on web 2.0 then keyword would be "web 2.0" and all the alerts or the one’s you choose i.e. news, blog or web alerts are delivered once a day or as it happens in your inbox.

Its quite a delightful service if you ask me and now google has announced on its official blog that along with web, blog and news alerts a user will be able to subscribe to Video alerts as well. This will be very easy for Google since it acquired youtube which is the market leader in Videos uploaded and streamed online. Also this service will further increase distribution of videos especially to the right target audience i.e. the one’s who have opted to recieve the alerts. I feel google alerts going forward is going to be a very powerful media distribution tool for the search giant and lot of companies would look to distribute their content but making sure they are blog search, news search and now video search optimized.
