Comscore acknowledges the power of blogs!
Comscore the global internet information provider which usually has reports on internet users across the globe has finally accepted the power of blogs and has tied up with Federated Media in the US to track and measure the online behaviour of audiences of blog sites on a worldwide scale.
Nielsen had launched buzz metrics an online social media tracker to track the conversations happening online with respect to your brand. Also there has always been technorati and blogsearch by google which are freely available. We had also recently written an article on online reputation management and its need for Indian businesses. As a Web 2.0 Strategy consultant and as someone who blogs and believes in the power of social media i can say that very few companies understand the power of the online word of mouth and both its positive and negative impacts. It is not only limited to blogs across conversations are happening across social media sites like blogs, social networks, video sharing sites and even consumer complaint forums.
This data is like untapped market research, market insights and feedback all available for free on the online space but it seems not many companies are alive to the situation at hand how they can exploit it. Infact a case in point is the Uniworld case where an irate flat over posted a youtube video which has been showcased across media like television channels and newspapers. One look at the video and you will know why social media can be so impactful and powerful with respect to word of mouth marketing.
There are several cases like the above and a simple blog search will let you know about any brand. The question is are brand listening or are they still sleeping? Its about time companies thought about their web 2.0 strategy in order to influence and benefit from the power of the web.
